When carrying out a web accessibility audit we use our expert knowledge in web accessibility standards to review your site and highlight any accessibility issues we find. We then provide workable recommendations for fixing them which we will summarise and explain to you, before finally working closely with you to ensure all issues get resolved.
Audits by nature are confidential however our client below was happy for us to release information.
sdesign1 were called in to conduct an accessibility audit for Insight Media on an application they had developed to be used as an online booking tool by councils and other organisations. They wanted to be a 100% sure their application posed no barriers to people with disabilities. We came up with an actionable list of 34 issues that needed addressing together with the recommended code fixes.
Now, it has to be said that in the past, reports like this have sometimes gone into a bottom draw and never seen the light of day again. It's worth saying here two things. One, Insight Media were committed to improving the accessibility of their application and were not going through the motions. Two, sdesign1, unlike some other auditing companies, does not just employ a hit and run fault finding exercise, dump a large report on someone's desk and say 'that's us done'. We worked closely with the Insight Media developers until every issue was resolved. That's what makes us unique - we see the barriers and also have the technical expertise to assist in the resolution of those barriers.
We can now report that the ICAM booking application is highly accessible and usable which, unfortunately, is often not the case when it comes to third party applications used by councils. Well done Insight Media for showing a commitment to web accessibility and well done us!
