Phil

Phil, MD of sdesign1 has worked as the lead developer on contracts for clients such as the  Department for Transport, GlaxoSmithKline, The Office of Fair Trading and numerous councils. He setup sdesign1 in 2006. Phil manages the business and staff and is also a judge on the Accessites award panel.

Phil once met the Queen and spoke to her. He also happens to be a qualified Shona and Swahili interpreter. Work that one out.

Martin

Martin has over 20 years of experience working in the area of learning difficulties. He has advised several large organisations including the BBC.

Using his experience in supporting people to speak up, he has pioneered ways of making web based video clips of people with learning difficulties promoting positive impressions about themselves.

Martin plays the Anglo Concertina in a band called Celtic Knot.

Alex

Alex actually has two degrees, one in Graphic Arts and another in Fine Art. I think she is the only person we have met who has done back to back BA's. She is an extremely talented, senior graphic designer with commercial experience in web design, print design and animation.

Alex once met Les Dennis. Fortunately, she has now made a full recovery. She likes watching ice hockey and her favourite film would be Slapshot if she had seen it. It is in fact, The Mighty Ducks. She plays the piano and violin and wants to learn to play the drums.

Evelyn

Evelyn has a Masters in Science in Computing and wrote her dissertation on The application of Nielsen’s (1993) usability heuristics in the evaluation of non-immersive, desktop 3D UIs - what a wonderful conversation stopper. Evelyn is our video and photo expert and needless to say did the photos on this page.

Evelyn goes ballroom dancing and grows Bonsai trees.

Jules

Jules completed a Degree in Multimedia Systems (BSc Hons) at Liverpool John Moores University and is currently an sdesign1 web developer focussing on site design and .NET development. Employed shortly after graduating, Jules has experience of HTML /CSS coding for websites whilst also developing a C# web application for navigating the internals of large buildings where GPS is not feasible by using computer game path-finding AI for his final year dissertation.

Jules has the family accolade of actually winning “a year’s supply of beer”, and yes...it is that amazing. Interests include following football and rugby (Manchester United and Leeds Rhinos respectively) as well as playing 5-a-side football regularly.

Anthony

Recently graduated with a degree in Computer Games Technology at Liverpool John Moores University. Anthony has a strong interest in games and games development. He also enjoys many other forms of development, particularly .NET development. Anthony has had 15 month work experience with ASP.NET MVC previous to joining sdesign1 and is now one of our .NET team. In his spare time Anthony enjoys playing games, socialising and will occaisionally get lost going off on a tangent reading about new technology.

Sheila

Sheila has a BSc in Experimental Psychology from the University of Bristol. Following a year spent teaching english in South Korea she took a change of direction and began a distance learning course in web design and development. She has built up 18 months of experience working within web design and undertakes a variety of projects at sdesign1 including front end development, wordpress site builds and some .NET development.

In her free time she enjoys killing zombies and swimming - although not at the same time!
