Virtuemart: Shipping rates - brought to you by sdesign1 - Joomla specialists

This article simply informs you about the configuration needed in Joomla and Virtuemart concerning the shipping rates that are offered for products in your store.

Log into your back-end of Joomla and click:

• Components
• VirtueMart
• Configuration
• Shipping

Ensure that the only option checked in the list of shipping options is "Standard Shipping module with indiviual configured carriers and rates. RECOMMENDED !"

• Click "Save" (if you need to).
• Now click "Shipping" in the left menu
• Click "Shipping Rates"

This should now list your list of shipping rates that are available to customers purchasing products. If no shipping rates are displaying, then you need to create some by clicking "Create a Shipping Rate" on the left.

VirtueMart works by offering the customer shipping rates, based on the weight of a product.

Therefore, if your shipping rate has a "Lowest Weight" of "1.00000" and a highest weight of  "2.00000" - this method would only display when purchasing a product that has a weight between these two values.

You should configure your shipping rates based on the weight of products and ensure that your actual products have the correct weight applied to them. This value can be entered when creating/editing a product under the "Product weight and dimensions" tab.
